Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce formerly known as Fenerbache Sports Club or in Turkish Fenerbahce Spor Kulubu is a multi sports club in Turkey. Located in the Kadikoy area of Istanbul, Fenerbahce, which means lighthouse garden in English, is named after a reknown lighthouse in the area. The sport club is the most famous in all of Turkey and is mainly known for its football club. The Sari Kanaryalar, or in English the Yellow Canaries, is the nickname for the Fenerbahce football club.
Fenerbahçe FC plays, at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium located in Kadikoy, all of their home games. Fenerbahce which is part of the Turkell Super Lig, was first founded in 1907 in secret because Ottoman law at the time prohibited Turkish youth from forming football clubs or teams. In 1908, a new law was passed and football clubs were allowed. In 1909, Fenerbahce finished fifth in their first season with the newly formed Turkish Football League.
From 1908-1959 Fenerbahce played against mostly English teams, formed by the English soldiers whom occupied Turkey at the time. It wasn’t until 1959 that the Turkish Super Lig was formed and Fenerbahce had the opportunity to show that they are a powerhouse club in Turkey. Fenerbahce was the most successful Turkish team in the 1960’s winning five out of the ten leagues. In 1967 they won the Balkan cup becoming the first Turkish team to win an outside country championship. In 2007, the club won its seventh Super Lig title.
Fenerbache uniforms consist of yellow shirts, navy shorts, and navy socks.
