Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite also known as Kaká, is a Brazilian midfielder who plays for the Italian Serie A (Italian league) club A.C. Milan and the Brazilian national team.
Kaká was born on April 22nd1982 in Brasília, Brazil to Simone Cristina dos Santos Leite and Bosco Izecson Pereira Leite. When Kaká was seven his family moved to São Paulo, where his school had organized for him to play in a local youth club called "Alphaville". His team qualified to the final in a local tournament, where he was discovered by São Paulo FC who asked him to sign with their team. Kaká suffered a dangerous and career threatening swimming pool accident when he was 18, but remarkably he made a full recovery. He attributes his revival to God and has since given a percentage of his income to his church. Kaká's younger brother, Rodrigo (known as Digão), has followed in his footsteps by playing football for Milan.
Kaká's nickname is pronounced as it is spelled, with an emphasis on the second syllable. His name originated from his brother Digão, who called him "Caca" because he was unable to pronounce "Ricardo" when they were young. Caca eventually evolved into Kaká and he is occasionally called "Ricky Kaká" by the European media.
Kaká earned both the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 2007, and was included in the 2008 "Time 100" which is an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. |
