Puma AG Rudolf Dassler Sport, or simply Puma, is a large sportswear company based in Germany. Puma manufactures sports shoes and other sportswear internationally. The corporation is probably best known for its football shoes, which come in many different styles. Puma's football boots are produced using the latest technologies, including anodized microfiber and earth friendly UNI technology. The company incorporates inspiration from football boots of the past while using modern materials.
In 2008 Puma King, which is one of Puma's most famous football boot styles, had its 40th anniversary. Although the King's round studs are similar to the style used in traditional football boots, they provide outstanding stability thanks to modern materials.
Puma supports many national football teams around the world, such as Italia, Bulgaria, Austria, and Guatemala. In addition the company has sponsored and produced the uniforms for numerous professional football clubs, including Liverpool FC, Tottenham Hotspurs, Bangor City and many more. It has also sponsored many notorious football players as Diego Maradona, Pelé, Gianluigi Buffon, and Eusébio
Puma rewarded football star Pelé $120,000 after he agreed to kneel down and tie his shoes before the 1970 World Cup a minute before the opening whistle. People all over the world who were watching the game got an up close view of Pelé's pumas when he bent down.
At the moment Puma is the third largest sportswear producer in the world after Nike and adidas.
In 2007 the French company PPR (Pinault-Printemps-Redoute), who own the Gucci brand, bought out the majority Puma.
